Is there a future for Mobile Cloud Computing Applications?

How will the mobile cloud evolve and what pressures will future applications put on existing Business Support Systems? One thing we can be sure of is that most of today's traditional billing products will have to change to adapt to business realities.

The real challenges in cloud billing are:Ownership: Who owns the business model - the operator? The application vendor? Both? Disparate objectives: There are multiple relationships to manage, spanning operators, application vendors, end users, resellers, advertisers; and a combination. Unknown unknowns: As new business models emerge rapidly, the future will present those we haven’t even conceptualised yet. Accountability: A growing need for the tighter management of service entitlement.

The talk will demonstrate why Dynamic Business Modelling will allow Mobile Cloud Computing Applications to flourish.

How the Rise of Mobile Device Applications Will Shape the Handset Market

The mobile internet applications space is booming. Apple's AppStore is evidence that mobile apps are hot. And, with the increasing popularity of smartphones, mobile internet apps will continue to be a hot topic.

A recent study from ABI Research shows that Mobile Cloud Computing will change the face of the mobile application world by 2014. Mobile Cloud Computing is the new approach to mobile application that uses the mobile Web to support application performance instead of handset processing power and storage taking the brunt of the work. Because of this, mobile applications will travel down the line of device types from smartphones to entry-level phones, expectedly becoming even more popular generating a projected $20 billion in revenue by 2014.

The upcoming MobileMonday Singapore event is sponsored by ABI Forums (sister company to ABI Research). Jake Saunders, VP for Forecasting - ABI Research, will share the trends in how the mobile internet application development is shaping the handset and mobile devices evolution.

Based in Singapore, Jake Saunders is Vice President of Forecasting. He also heads ABI Research’s Asia-Pacific division. Jake brings highly developed analytical skills to the company, combined with years of expertise in the technology market research business, and a proven track record of operations management. He devotes particular attention to all China-related topics, as well as handsets, Mobile Network Operators, MVNOs, and wireless operators Vodafone, Hutchison and 3.
